They are well known in the Bridgwater area for their connection with Bridgwater Cricket Club and Chilton Trinity sports centre. - Netball league goes down to the wire - The sporting-world.net school netball league will go down to the last fixture with St Ben's needing victory to win the league. 2 points adrift of Meare a win will see them claim their first league win.
- Draycott and Rodney Stoke First School 3 St Lawrence's, Westbury 0 - The young footballers of Draycott and Westbury-sub-Mendip Primary schools took to the pitch for their first ever fixture and for most of the children their first ever match under the watchful eye of referee Steven Spencer.
The Westbury children, with five year old Freddie Lovell on the right wing and six year old defender Henry showing lots of future promise, were tested by the Draycott players from the very beginning but were stoic in their defence until Draycott's Man of the Match Archie Smith put one past St.Lawrence's keeper Connor Gerson.
From then on Draycott scored two more goals but not without stoicism and energy sapping defensive and forward runs up and down the pitch from the young Westbury players.
It was a great match played in true friendly football spirit and despite the loss a positive experience for all the young players. Mr Spencer the referee, who wore a fetching Newcastle United woolly hat throughout, didn't need to blow his whistle once for a dive, trip or unfair play during the 30 minutes and the two schools plan to meet again for more sporting fixtures in the New Year.
- Elmhurst win school football league - Elmhurst became the first winners of the sporting-world.net school football league on goal difference after they were defeated 4-2 by runners up West Pennard. Needing to win by 3 goals West Pennard came up 1 short in a thrilling finale to finish equal on 12 points but 1 goal down. In addition St Ben's also finished on 12 points but an inferior goal difference meant Elmhust were crowned champions. Matt Bridge claimed the golden boot with 11 goals followed by Sam Harris with 10.
