There is nothing more important to us than your childs well being and success. Therefore it is crucial that we maintain a standard of coaching that we believe to be more than acceptable to acheive this.

Cricket Coaches


Steven Spencer

Steven is the Somerset U15 coach and a member of the Somerset coaching team at their centre of excellence, heavily involved with their youth system. As a player, he graduated on the Somerset County Cricket Club academy and during his time represented Somerset 2nd XI and board XI. A coach on the SCCC Richard Huish academy and heads our College academy coaches. Steven also provides coaching for our school programmes.

Andrew Skidmore

Andrew has a wealth of experience in sports coaching, with qualifications to match. A level 2 cricket coach with a degree in Sports Coaching he will initially work part time along his other sport based commitments. We hope he will join us full time when the opportunity arises. Andrew has an outstanding manner with children and his wealth of cricket and sporting knowledge means he is another excellent addition to the team who you will be only to pleased to have as part of your school.

Chris Skidmore

Chris, brother of Andrew, has joined the staff, initially, on a part-time basis. He is qualified to level 1 and will take on a wider role when he completes his level 2 qualifications. In his short time Chris has shown to be pro-active, keen and a natural with children. He has an extensive cricket knowledge and is an excellent addition to the Sporting World team.

Ross Treleaven

Ross is a graduate of a Sports Coaching Degree and is Level 2 qualified coach in both Squash and Cricket. Ross has a wealth of coaching experience, running after school or club sessions specialising in ball sports. Ross has also had experience coaching county standard players and is looking to progress through the England Squash and England Cricket Board Coaches programmes. Ross is running both our PPA and Extra Curriculum programmes in South Devon with great success.

Football Coaches


Lee Molland

Lee is a qualified Level 2 Football association coach. In 2006 he has been one of our leading primary school coaches. He continues to improve as a coach and is always pro-active towards his planning and workload. In the future I hope he will lead our secondary school academies.

Ben Treloar

Ben is a level 2 qualified Football coach who has been working with us since 2008. He has built up excellent relationships with all the schools he works at and is highly thought of within our company. Ben now runs the Dorset Franchise and has been doing a great job.

Marc Troman

Marc has graduated with a sports coaching and conditioning degree and has worked for the company for the last 2 years. He is a level 2 Football coach and has had experience in being around a professional environment with Plymouth Argyle as a player. Marc is an excellent role model for other coaches with his class room and behaviour mangement stategies as well as young children with his work ethic and enthusiasm. Marc has progressed into running the company in the Devon region with great success.

Andrew Evans

Andrew has been with the company for a number of years on a shadow basis whilst studying. He is now with us full time and continue on his professional development in the football world. He has shown massive improvement as a coach in the last 12 months and proves our shadow program helps young aspiring coaches.

Phil Hartnup

Phil has recently joined the coaching team. He is a level 2 football coach and ply's his trade with Taunton Town FC. Already he has shown he is confident with children and they respond well to him. He is forming part of our development centre coaching team and will also roll out the school sports leagues.

Sam Lewis

Sam is currently a second year student at Marjon, studying BA(Hons)Coach & Physical Education; having aspirations to work as a teacher or full time coach. Sam is currently a Level 2 football coach, Goalkeeping coach & Cricket coach. Sam boasts a successful playing background particularly in football, representing both Bristol Rovers & City up until the age of 16. Sam is a confident and enthusiastic character, someone who always give his best, and is always looking to improve as a person and in his profession. Sam will be leading our extra curriculum programmes in the Devon region.

Nick Clements

This is our shadow/assistant team. They are our Level 1 qualified coaches and are currently running extra-curricular programmes in order to gain experience in class and behaviour management. They all have extensice knowledge in their sports and we look forward to progressing them to senior coaches.

Stuart Hole

Stuart has been on our shadow program for a year and is now coaching in schools with us. After spending time with our other coaches he has picked up the keys to our success. He is very natural with children is extremely consistent, hardworking and knows his stuff. We're so pleased to add Stuart to the team and feedback from schools so far has been outstanding.

Matthew Boynton

Matthew is currently studying to become a primary school teacher at Plymouth University. Matthew is Level 1 qualified in football. Matthew has had experience in teaching cricket and football in a voluntary role at a local primary school and has ran successful holiday camps all over the south west of England. Matthew is running our extra curriculum programmes in the Plymouth region.

Rugby Coaches


Toby Payne

Toby is a new member to our team and is currently qualifying to Level 2 with the RFU. Also a keen cricketer Toby is being primed for a full time role within our PPA team.

Gary Kingdom

Gary is a qualified level 2 rugby union coach and has previous experience of playing professional at Bath and Exeter Chiefs. Gary also has a degree in sport coaching. He will be leading our PPA and Extra Curriculum programmes in the Devon region. He has worked in a number of primary schools in the past and has a firm understanding of the behaviour techniques and class room management which is key in school environments.

Jo Yapp

Jo is a secondary school qualified P.E teacher with five years teaching experience and a Level 2 rugby union coach. As well as having a very good knowledge of teaching P.E she has also worked within special education environments. Previously Jo has represented the England Women's Rugby team 70 times and captained them at the 2006 World Cup. She currently acts as a role model mentoring other athletes as well as being part of the South West Rugby coaching team for women. Jo will work under our shadow programme in the Devon region to gain an understanding of the behaviour and classroom management skills that are expected to be used when coaching for Sporting World.

Netball Coaches


Charlotte Cullen

Charlotte is a qualified teacher and with it brings a wealth of experience. Not only with her sport skills but more importantly with her class management and behaviour control skills. She is a superb mentor for our up and coming coaches

Judo Coaches


Marlon Benney

Marlon is our qualified club coach in Judo. He has taken our Judo to new levels with extra curricular sessions currently fully booked and over subscribed. He also assists our primary school rugby sessions.

Tennis Coaches


Emily Rossiter

Emily is a recent addition to our senior coaching team after completing a shadow programme whilst studying for a degree in Sports coaching. She now takes PPA sessions in addition to extra curricular activities. She is qualified to Level 2 with the LTA and is a very pro-active coach with her love club in Burnham.

Rounders Coaches


Steven Spencer

Steven is a qualified umpire and rounders coach to Level 1. With his cricket qualifications he has an extensive knowledge of ball striking and fielding sports.


Standards of coaching


  • Coaches are qualified to a minimum Level 2 within their sport
  • Coaches are CRB checked
  • Coaches have attended first aid training
  • Coaches have more than 2 years experience in sports coaching
  • Public liability insurance is provided by Somerset Sports Coaching
  • All equipment is provided by SSC coaches
  • Sessions can meet PE curriculum criteria and attainment targets
  • Academy/Elite sessions are of the highest intensity and are led by Level 3 coaches
  • Coaches are assessed on a termly basis
  • Newly recruited coaches shadow current coaches before working alone
